Course Objectives
Transition Strategies for Sustainability (TSS) – STM 3 is one of the core courses of Business Management under the Strategy and General Management Area. TSS aims to give an overview of the significance of internal design and systems thinking for intergeneration performance of an organization and the ecosystem in which it operates. This 1.0 core credit course has a few specific objectives.

The specific objectives of the course include:

(a) Understand the fundamentals of sustainability and appreciate the significance of intergenerational perspectiveof an organizations
(b) Develop a broad perspective of organization strategies relating to meeting legal norms to CSR, Inclusive Strategies, SDG compass with redesign of value chains and basics of sustainability reporting.
(c) Understand the significance of inter-connections, interdependence of an organization to other entities in an ecosystem and perspective of all interacting systems dynamics.
(d) Get a glimpse on how to redraw the world of corporations towards building sustainable communities and holistic economic engagements that is how could firms transition from a linearized model to circular model of production and organization.

            Pedagogy
            The approach to learning will largely be through a dialectic method of advancing the understanding of issues and topics of the subject.

            Evaluation
            Term Assignment: 50%
            Attendance & Class Participation 10%
            End Term Examination: 40%

            Term Assignment
            The term assignment can be chosen from any one of the following themes:

            1. Sustainability Reporting: Critical analysis of a company/corporation on its sustainability initiatives and its Sustainability Reporting.

            2. SDG Compass: Analyze the value chain of a company/corporation using the SDG Compass and suggest recommendation to the organization.

            3. Circular System of Production and Organization: Pick up any case/organization from either ‘for profit’ or ‘not for profit’ organizations (in primary or secondary or tertiary sector) that follows circular system of production and organization and assess its sustainability performance.

            Depending on the situation and convenience, an individual student or a team of two or a team of three students can jointly undertake this assignment. Each Team is required to submit the themes of the assignment by 20th July 2020. CRs to kindly coordinate.

            The final report shall be within 20 pages (12 font size, Times Roman, 1.5 spacing), including the references. The report is to be accompanied with a similarity test report. XIMB library can be contacted to get the similarity test report.

            Reading Materials and Text Books
            Copies of all Relevant Reading Materials and references will be provided to the students. The students are however advised to refer to books, journals and magazines for the related topics on sustainability. A number of such reference materials are available in the XIMB Library. Students may also refer to EBSCO library database for most of the journal articles mentioned here.

            Academic Integrity
            The standard institute rules of the program including the rules on plagiarism will be applicable to this course.
